From charming little coastal towns to medieval hilltop forts, from the peaceful valleys and forests to the teeming tourist destinations, the Istrian peninsula and the neighbouring islands allow that to happen.
Your trip begins in Rovinj, one of the most romantic towns in Europe. You will stay in a boutique hotel in the historic centre, from where we will take you on a private tour of the city's cultural highlights. Its narrow cobblestone streets and colorful facades make a beautiful backdrop to a tasty meal or a refreshing drink. Using Rovinj as your base, you will explore the peninsula from top to bottom.
From Rovinj you will head down to the small town of Vodnjan, famous for its top quality olive oils. You will become acquainted with the production process by visiting a family run business. Walk through the olive groves, taste the award-winning oils and finish it off with a delicious meal.
Next stop is Pula. Hear about the fearless gladiators who entertained the crowds in one of the best preserved roman amphitheatres in the world and marvel at the ancient temples in the city centre. We can arrange a leisurely trip to the Brijuni National park, the favourite holiday destination of both current and former political leaders.
Or if you are a cheese enthusiast, we will take you to an eco goat farm where you can take part in artisanal cheese making and end the day with an unforgettable meal.
The following morning we are taking you to the heartland of the peninsula. Spend your morning visiting some of the most famous wineries in all of the country and sipping wine overlooking the vineyards. You could also visit the local craft beer factory or a distillery and try some of the favourite Croatian spirits.
Stroll through the picturesque villages of Grožnjan and Motovun, famous for their art galleries and breathtaking views of the Mirna Valley. This area is famous for truffles. Go an a truffle hunting trip in the surrounding forests with local guides.
The journey through the untouched nature continues to Opatija. En route, you will visit Hum, „the smallest city in the World“, and the home to many interesting sculptures depicting the old Croatian alphabet, the Glagolitsa. Opatija is known as „the cradle of tourism“ in Croatia.
Some of its stunning hotels date back to the time of the Habsburg dynasty, who enjoyed spending their holidays here. Dine like noblemen in some of the best restaurants in the country.
From here, you will head south towards the islands of Cres and Lošinj. Explore the connected islands and their incredible mythical history. In Lošinj, you can visit the museum dedicated to the famous ancient Greek statue of Apoxyomenos, or learn about the maritime history of this, once important Mediterranean port.
We will take you to the enchanting village of Lubenice, which stands atop a steep hill. Here you can find out about the importance of sheep for the in a specialized wool museum. End your day with fresh seafood and a glass of local wine.
